Staff Biography

Marcus Smallegan currently serves as Executive Vice President of Public Relations for US Airways Virtual Airlines, and has served with USAVA for nearly four years. He has been a virtual pilot since the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 98, and has owned and flown every version of Flight Simulator since then. Prior to joining USAVA, Mr. Smallegan served with Atlantic Sun Airways, accumulating over 2,000 hours of flying time while based in both Orlando and Amsterdam and serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the airline's magazine, Sunspots. Since taking over the Office of Public Relations, he has been working to revitalize the airline's external and internal image, and has been responsible for the rebranding initiatives that continue to evolve USAVA's public image.

Raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mr. Smallegan moved to the Washington, DC region in 2007 and currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia. He is currently working to complete his undergraduate studies at The George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs, with a degree in International Politics and Political Science. Upon graduation in May of 2013, Marcus intends to serve the United States government in foreign service. Currently working for the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum, Mr. Smallegan continues to surround himself with his passion for aviation's many facets.
